Trump to announce restrictions on businesses with ties to Cuba

US President Donald Trump is set to announce business restrictions for Cuban companies dealing with the US during the Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America in Miami. Such restrictions refer mainly to a prohibition on "financial transactions" with the Cuban military-backed tourism conglomerate GAESA. Trump will also announce stricter enforcement of rules for Americans traveling to Cuba.

Trump could undo two years of progress in normalizing relations. What do these restrictions entail for people on both sides of the Straits of Florida and Trump's political future? Ted Henken, professor in the Department of Black and Latino Studies at Baruch College and former president of the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy; and Carlos Alzugaray, professor of International Relations at the University of Havana and former Cuban ambassador to Brussels, weigh in on the issue.
